Abstract:
The doctrine of being a leader in The Art of War mainly requires five qualities of "wisdom, credit, benevolence, courage and strictness". They can be interpreted respectively as "estimating correctly one's strength as well as that of one's opponent, knowing about Heaven and Earth and being flexible about advantages and disadvantages; assisting the emperor with loyalty, doing one's job with respect and fulfilling one's promise all the time; protecting soldiers'interests, caring about them but also able to order them, loving them but also able to drive them; relying on one's courage and making strong actions, deciding one's reactions according to different situations, staying clear of the enemy's main force and striking at his weak points; well regulating the doctrine of education, being strict about awards and punishments, and being severe with oneself."These five qualities can provide beneficial enlightenment for teacher's quality.
