Abstract: Based on design methodology,the paper gives a study on a simplifiedmethod of cost estimation at each of the product design processes by promulgating the inherent relationship between product design and the manufacturing cost. The paperadvances an exponential model for the generalized cost function,creates the overallstructure model of cost estimation by the statistic method.The author has developedCE,a practical cost estimation software for use with PCs at the factory level.
