Abstract: To determine the role of product data model in the product data management and concurrent engineering. Methods Attributes of the product structure, the data related to the product and the product development process and the relationship between them were analyzed by using the object oriented method. Results The classes library of product structure was established. On the basis of the classes library, the data driven process model and process management method was discussed. Conclusion The product data model is the kernel of product data management systems. The model defines the product structure by the unified concept and the product data and process are integrated on the basis of the model.
