Effect of Melamine Cyanurate on the Flame Retardance of Epoxy Resin

  • 摘要: 采用极限氧指数(LOI)法,热重分析(TGA)和差示扫描量热分析(DSC)研究了无卤无磷阻燃剂三聚氰胺氰尿酸盐(MC)在环氧树脂酸酐固化物(EP)中的阻燃作用机理.研究结果表明,MC对EP具有优良的阻燃效果,当用量仅为5份时就使EP达到了自熄的程度.MC降低了EP的热起始分解温度和最大热失重速率,提高了EP在高温下的热稳定性.但MC的凝缩相成炭阻燃作用很弱,不是发挥阻燃作用的主要方式,而是通过吸热降温,以热阱机理在气相反应区和凝缩相热分解区发挥阻燃作用.

     

    Abstract: The flame retardant mechanism of the halogen- and phosphorus-free flame retardant melamine cyanurate (MC) on the epoxy resin by cured anhydride was investigated by means of limited oxygen index (LOI), thermogravimetry analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results showed that the incorporation of MC into EP improved the flame retardancy. MC lowered the onset temperature and the maximum mass loss rate of EP on heating, and increased the thermal stability of EP at high temperatures(<400 ℃). But the condensed phase charring action of MC seemed to be poor. The flame retardant action of MC is mainly via heat sink in both the gaseous and condensed phases.
