Abstract
A current controller of electric power steering (EPS) system was designed using H<sub<∞</sub< mixed sensitivity control method in view of the performance demands of steering system under the existence of uncertainties such as torque sensor noise, road disturbance and parameter change. A synthesized model has been established to reflect the performance of EPS system and the vehicle handling stability. The simulation results indicate that the designed control system for EPS shows a satisfactory road feeling, and a favorable handling performance. It also could effectively restrain the noises and disturbances caused by system uncertainties and road conditions. Consequently, the robustness of handling stability could be enhanced.
