Topological Property of China Railway Traffic Network

  • Topological property of railway passenger network was studied based on complex network theory and the temporal and OD distribution of Chinese passenger trains in 2010. The results show that degree distribution of railway traffic network follows the exponential distribution law and reveals significant small-world characteristics. The number distribution of trains stop at a station follows the power laws, the weighted degree of the stations follows stretched exponential distribution and the relationship between degree and weighted degree of a station is also characterized by power law. The adjustment of transport organization strategy has an essential influence on the topological property of railway traffic network. The research of railway traffic network property promotes the transport organization strategy which makes the network service feature more robust.
