Research Achievement

1. It was proposed that nitric acid can participate in and promote the sulfate-ammonia nucleation process under clean and cold environment, which was published in Phys.Chem. Chem. Phys. 2018, 20, 17406, and confirmed by experimental work in 2020 (Nature, 2020, 581, 184). Furthermore, it is suggested that nitric acid can participate in and promote the nucleation process of dimethylamine sulfate in the polluted boundary layer. The work is published in Proc.Natl.Acad.Sci.USA, 2021, 118, e2108384118, and is reported as a "newsletter" in Environmental Chemistry.
2. It is revealed that trifluoroacetic acid can promote aerosol nucleation under common atmospheric conditions, and this mechanism has been verified by field observation experiments in Shanghai area. This work is published in Geophys.Res. Lett., 2020, 47(2), e2019GL085627. Furthermore, it is suggested that trifluoroacetic acid can promote nucleation significantly in winter in polluted areas with high concentration of dimethylamine. The results are published in Atmos.Chem.Phys., 2021, 21, 6221.
3. The "indirect inhibition" effect of alcohols on aerosol nucleation was found. This work can provide a theoretical basis for measuring the contribution of alcohols to the concentration of new particles in the atmosphere, published in Proc.Natl.Acad.Sci.USA, 2019, 116, 24966.
