Abstract

In this paper, a segmented wavefield-based rotational motion compensation (SW-RMC) method is proposed for accelerated generation of holographic video in 360-degree three-dimensional (3D) holographic display. The 3D rotational motion along the vertical axis can be effectively compensated on the hologram plane with the use of segmented wavefield-based rotation transformation theory. Furthermore, we develop an error compensation scheme based on periodic reference frames to ensure that holographic video always maintain high reconstruction quality. Experimental results show compared with the general motion compensation MCRC method, which is the special case of SW-RMC without segmentation, the range of a single motion compensation is significantly expanded and the generation speed of holographic video is improved by 4.4 times. Meanwhile, compared with traditional frame-by-frame calculation methods, our proposed method has significant advantages in generating holographic video with massive frames, which achieves similar continuous motion parallax while increasing the generation speed by 14.9 times.
